I need you to return a favor: link to Biznik from your blog or website
As pleased as I am with the growth of Biznik over the past year, there’s something that’s driving me nuts: So far we haven’t been able to crack into the Google search results for the term “business networking.” I’ve been getting some advice on how to solve this problem from member Karl Long, a business consultant who knows a lot about search engine marketing, and it turns out that one of the most important things to getting ranked on Google is how many other websites link to yours. And to really get the Google juice flowing, the link should contain the words you want to be ranked with.
So, I need your help: I need you to add a link to Biznik – business networking in the sidebar or footer of your web page or blog. Actually, what I’m really asking is for you to return a favor that Biznik is already doing for you – because if you’ve got a blog or website in your profile, we’ve already given you more than one link from Biznik already (from your profile page and also from the member blogs page, which currently links to 148 member blogs). Selected members also have links to their blogs in the Biznik blog sidebar.
To make this easy for you, I’ve created a page that has the code all ready for you to cut and paste into a sidebar or footer on your site. But that’s not all. To show you how much we value your links, I’ve created a page that will give you increased visibility and prominence on Biznik based on the amount of traffic you send to Biznik through your link. By using the code provided, each time someone clicks through to Biznik from your site, you’ll get credited with a visit, which increases your standing in the list of top member sites. (Limit one visit per IP address per 24 hours, and search engine spider visits are not counted). Here’s what the page looks like:

If you have any questions about how to get the link into your blog or website, drop me a line to dan [at] biznik.com, and I’ll be happy to help you out.

I guess I’ve had a link to your blog every since I set mine up. I did try the logo link thing and it didn’t work too well on my blog, but it did on my regular website.
I added the word “business” in front of “networking” in the description on the “blogroll.”

Thanks for linking with those terms, everyone – I’ll let you know what kind of difference it makes over the next few months, but it should be significant.

[...] A week ago I asked Biznik members to return a favor that we’re doing for you already by adding a link to Biznik.com from your website or blog. Today I’m announcing a fun sweetener to the deal, to encourage those of you sitting on the fence to add that link (c’mon, it’s easy – grab the code here). It’s called the Top 10 Members list, and it’s a running tally of who is referring the most traffic to Biznik. Actually, that went up a week ago – what’s new today is that if you’re in the Top 10 list, a graphic badge will now automatically appear on your profile page with your rank prominently displayed. So anyone looking at your profile will immediately know to snap to attention and salute your skill, good looks and popularity. [...]
