Introducing Biznik Groups
This afternoon we launched Biznik Groups. It’s a bit of an anti-climax, really, since there are already more than 150 groups that are up and running nicely. (About three weeks ago, we began a private beta test, inviting all paying members to participate, and the response has been huge).
Groups give ownership over your networking to YOU, where it belongs. Groups give you control over articles, events and discussions in your group. Not to mention, you can make your group public (anyone can join instantly) or protected (you approve all requests to join your group).
What’s more, you can opt to auto-approve all events and articles that are posted to your group (the default setting), OR you can be the judge of all content that’s approved to your group. You can also add and designate Moderators for your group.
In effect, it’s like we handed you the keys to Biznik, and said, “Hey! Why don’t YOU drive!”
We’ve observed some interesting things during the first few weeks, and one of them is that one group – Power Chicks – is twice as active as the next closest group. It is by FAR the most active group in Biznik. Why? I interviewed Lynn Baldwin-Rhoades (both by email and on video), who created the group, to find out. And I learned a lot about how to effectively manage and grow a group from her. It’s really good stuff. I’ll be sharing it with you in a post very soon.
Meanwhile, welcome to groups. It’s a project we’re thrilled to have out of our heads and into your hands.
