Thank you, SHINE Interview Team
The SHINE Interview Team put in a lot of work to keep people talking, not only during the big event Wednesday, but most of them attended a training session prior to SHINE. In fact, David Kuhns, Amy Woidtke, Laila Attallah and Stefani Quane teamed up to conduct a handful of pre-event workshops of their own, which greatly helped camera-shy members prepare for their moment to shine. You guys are (as David says) AWESOME!
We broke the interview teams into three shifts, so that no team had to work more than two hours throughout the evening. It seemed to work very well, and the only complaints I heard was that some team members wanted MORE time to work! Love it.
Here’s the breakdown:
Shift I :
- Carolyn May
- Christian Jacobsen
- David Kuhns
- David Merwin
- Janet Ott
- Jeff Leisawitz
- Jenna Rizzo
- Joan Hitchens
- Judy Tallant
- Karrie Kohlhaas
- Kathleen Minetti
- Laila Atallah
- Sandra Jones
Shift II:
- Christopher Novak
- Cynthia Duval
- Daniel Cardenas
- Debra Synovec
- Elisebeth VanderWeil
- Iskra Johnson
- Kate Phillips
- Katie Beck
- Lori Zue Stevens
- Paul Sweum
- Rebecca West
- Stefani Quane
- Suzanne Griscom
- Tshombe Brown

Thank you for giving us the gift of serving other Biznik members as interviewers at SHINE. Thank you for the excellent, interactive training. Jay and I left SO excited we could hardly wait for Wednesday. We knew we were going to share an experience of power, inspiration and magic. Our experience at the training would be magnified 1,000 times over as we came together for SHINE. We were not disappointed.
3rd shift had more volunteers than needed, so I didn’t get to work as an interviewer. I hadn’t planned to sit before a camera. That changed as I was encouraged to step out and share my story. I was now an interviewee of EV Vanderweil. She masterfully calmed me and led me through the process asking thoughtful questions. My Videographer, Greg Sommers encouraged and affirmed me with his smile and engaging nods. They were amazing!
SHINE was a moment in time I will never forget and always treasure. I’m thrilled I was there. I’ll have my video to prove it. It happened for me and everyone else because you dared to dream it into being, others embraced your dream and made it possible for each one of us to SHINE!

What a truly inspired event. Dan McComb, you did it again. You are the master of bringing brilliant, uplifting, people and community-building events to life — your passion is a reality dude!! CONGRATS!!
Clearly, everyone who participated gave their all… creative talent, social and organizational skills, artistic integrity and open hearts. There was a huge commitment to authentic sharing and listening behind the scenes and in front of the camera.
I think we all enjoyed ourselves immensely and are so excited to see what comes next with this project.
A-mazing, A-mazing. So happy to be a part of it!!

My hats off to all who volunteered to help Laura and Dan pull this off. SHINE will definitely go down into the annals of being the “Woodstock” of Biznik. May there be more. Great seeing some old faces and some new ones.
Best to all,
~David
