Facebook is for fools who Stalin and Hitler would have sent to termination camps

I’m a big fan of clarity in communication. Every time I send a special message like the one I sent out Friday, asking for help to claim our identity on Facebook, I cringe because I fear someone will take it the wrong way. I sweat over every word, careful to create messages that will be well received and that offer something of value to all recipients.

When you send a message to 30,000 people, you gotta figure at least one of them is having a bad day. Still, this reply is so over the top that I just gotta crack open my inbox and share part of it with you:

I despise facebook, twitter! This is for FOOLS who Stalin and Hitler would have had sent to termination camps. I can’t stand sheeple or groupies and don’t want to make you rich unless I too get there. Don’t send me this condescending crap………take me off your list.

Wow. Really, all you had to do was click the unsubscribe link.

On the positive side, I also got this message from member David Iwano, who hails from Brisbane, Australia:

Dan,

Mate you had 999 fans now you have 1,000…. keep up the good work.

Thank You
David Iwanow

Update: Biznik now has in excess of 1,700 fans on the Biznik Facebook Fan page, which we’ll be using to post special offers, member Shine videos, special announcements and much more. Thanks for your support.

I’m with you.. I found Biznick and yourself on Twitter to be very helpful in many ways. As son as I got your message I became a fan, not just because I feel grateful towards you and what you give to us as a community, but I also find it really useful.
And quoting your mate David, keep up the good work! :)

    Maria

    I meant Biznik.. haha

    Thanks Maria!

Wow, “having a bad day” is an understatement. That guy should learn to ignore stuff that doesn’t interest him…he’ll live longer. God gave us the unsubscribe and delete buttons for a reason! I wrote a blog post for people just like him: http://sn.im/k8sqb

Dan… I also sweat over every message I send, not wanting to offend and not to appear as pushy. That’s hard to do with a handle of “That Sales Guy”.

Being addicted to “Selling” all of my life, I’ve always felt if you had something of benefit to offer someone that can improve their life, just do it knowing full well that you can’t please everyone.

Too bad some folks take offense so easily. By not becoming a fan of Biznik on Facebook or even becoming a supporting Biznik member, he/she will miss all the potential good ideas, and possible future opportunities through new relationships.

He/She will also miss the opportunity to vet new relationships by observing how utterly absurd some people are to the inconsequential.

I’m a big Biznik fan and will gladly responded to a friend request when all it takes is just a click to help float our collective boat a little higher.

Congrats on almost 2,000 fans on Facebook so far. …Howard

I got rather sad because I got the call to arms post deadline date. But I see that we succeeded! hurray!

That bloke is - quite obviously - a bit of a nutter. 0o

What first hit me about this person’s response was the anger…enough to be tasteless in his posting, insulting at best. Then I thought…now why would I want to do business with this person? And then…I remember that what this poster said has nothing to do with you, Dan, nor the members on Biznik. However, it says volumes about the person who posted. Dan, this is your site..you shouldn’t be afraid to post something, or afraid to offend, or appear to be pushy. We are adults here, and we chose to be here for a variety of reasons. If one of us takes offense, we have to own the reasons why, not you.

I can honestly say I completely understand working with the people who are “having a bad day” and respond with negativity after my Biznik experience today. Of course, I agree with the others….just hit delete already!!

I was pleased, however, to see so many people understand that the support of Biznik on Facebook was not about facebook at all! It was about Biznik. When I received your request, I responded immediately and without a second thought.

    Congrad Dan and Biznik Team!
