We Call it a 5-Day Project
Earlier this summer Lara and Dan went to NYC to do some networking. A few weeks later, I was down in San Francisco meeting members of the coworking community.
As you can imagine, there is no shortage of work to be done in a boot-strapped start up with a small team powering it every day.
Lara wittingly pointed out that if she and I had time to gallivant around the country, then we had time to dedicate a week to a burning project we wanted to get done.
Them’s the Rules:
- A couple of hours in the morning for daily tasks, then
- No emails
- No phone calls
- No extraneous meetings
- Start Monday with the goal of a deliverable on Friday
With zeal and apprehension against the impending clock, we started off in mid-July for our first 5-day project. By Tuesday night we realized that what we thought we were going to deliver was just a smidge on a much bigger project that needed to be done first. So we did it.
48 days later, we are nearly wrapping up our 5-Day project.
On the eve of our launch, it feels good to complete something.
